Product Overview:
The HP Smart Tank 520 All-in-One (1F3W2A) is a refillable ink-tank printer combining printing, scanning, and copying in one compact unit, built for home users or small offices that do moderate printing. It uses HP’s Thermal Inkjet technology and features flatbed scanning. The input tray holds up to 100 sheets, while the output tray supports about 30 sheets.
In terms of performance, the Smart Tank 520 delivers up to 12 pages per minute (ppm) for black and up to 5 ppm for color under ISO standards. Draft speeds are higher (≈ 22 ppm black, 16 ppm color). First page out time is roughly 14 seconds for black and 21 seconds for color when ready.
The print resolution is up to 1200 × 1200 rendered dpi for black, and up to 4800 × 1200 optimized dpi for color (when printing from a computer and supplying sufficient input resolution).
For scanning, the flatbed scanner supports A4 (or sheet size up to 216 × 297 mm), with optical resolution up to 1200 dpi. The copying speed is lower — around 10 copies per minute (cpm) for black and 2 cpm for color under ISO tests.
The recommended monthly print volume is between 400-800 pages, while the maximum duty cycle is about 3,000 pages per month. Regarding media handling, it supports a variety of paper types (plain, photo, gloss, etc.), envelopes, and has custom size support. Borderless printing is possible for sizes up to 8.5 × 11 in (≈ A4).
On the connectivity front, it uses USB 2.0 for direct computer connection. There is no built-in Wi-Fi in some regional variants. The control panel is simple: buttons for power, copying, canceling jobs, and specific shortcuts (e.g. ID copy) with LED / indicator support.
The printer weighs around 5.0 kg, with dimensions roughly 434.7 × 361.5 × 157.3 mm (in its compact form) extending to about 434.7 × 580.7 × 259.4 mm when configured for scanning operations. Power draw in ready, sleep, and manual-off modes are low (≈ 2.5-3 W in ready, less than 1W in sleep, very low when off).
Key selling points are low cost-per-page thanks to large ink bottles, spill-free refill design, “low ink sensors” to help avoid printhead damage, and simplified setup that guides users.
